The Zone Change Email Alert
The Gold Barometer sends one email each time its daily reading moves to a new zone, in either direction. Since 1971 the zone has changed about twice a year, 1.7 on average. The email is free. There is no newsletter and no other mail. As of October 9, 2026, the reading is 33 out of 100, in the Unfavorable zone.
What the email contains
The date. The new reading out of 100. The zone it left and the zone it entered, and how long it had sat in the old zone. One link to the day's page. No price from any dealer, no product, and no advice.
This is what the email looks like, with the figures of an invented day:
Subject: The Gold Barometer moved to Mixed
Gold buying conditions in the US market read 41 out of 100 as of the close on March 3, 2027. That is the Mixed zone, measured against every trading day since 1971.
It left the Unfavorable zone, where it had sat for 112 days and last read 38.
What moved: the entry price part rose 9 points over 30 days. The day's full reading is on thegoldbarometer.com.
It measures conditions. It is not advice, and it does not predict the price.

How often it goes out
Read one row across: the year and how many times the zone changed that year, on the month-end record.
| Year | Zone changes |
|---|---|
| 2016 | 1 |
| 2017 | 5 |
| 2018 | 3 |
| 2019 | 4 |
| 2020 | 0 |
| 2021 | 2 |
| 2022 | 0 |
| 2023 | 0 |
| 2024 | 1 |
| 2025 | 2 |
| Average, 1971 to 2025 | 1.7 a year |
Counted on the month-end readings of the record, 92 changes in 55 years. The daily reading can cross a line and cross back within days. A year can therefore bring a few more emails than this table shows, and two of them can arrive close together. Since the alert opened on August 5, 2026, no zone change has happened and no email has gone out.
Who sends it and who pays for it
The Gold Barometer, the publisher named on the legal page, from France for the US market. No dealer, mint or broker is involved in the reading or in the email. If an email ever contains a link that pays the site when you buy, the top of that email says so. US trade rules require it. Questions go to hello@thegoldbarometer.com.
How to stop it
Every email ends with one link. One click and the address leaves the list the same day. How your address is handled is on the privacy page.
For software that reads the site
The same fact is in the data. latest.json carries an alerts block with this page's address. So does the hosted MCP server described on the data page.
