Privacy

This site collects almost nothing. If you sign up for alerts, we hold one email address. There are no advertising trackers, no analytics cookies, and nothing here is sold or shared for marketing.

1. Who is responsible

The Gold Barometer is published by Marc Pavageau, an independent publisher in France. Full details are on the legal notice. For anything about your data, write to hello@thegoldbarometer.com.

2. The email address, if you give one

The sign-up form asks for one thing: an email address. We use it for one thing: an email the day the reading moves to a new zone. We email you only because you asked. Nobody else can put you on the list: the address must be confirmed from its own inbox first.

You confirm the address before anything is stored on a list. Every email we ever send carries a one-click way out. Leaving the list withdraws your consent, and the address is deleted from it.

The list is held with MailerLite, the service that stores addresses and sends the emails for us. MailerLite acts only on our instructions. Where a service processes data outside the European Union, it does so under the contract terms European law requires for moving personal data abroad.

3. The theme choice

If you switch between the day and night look, that choice is saved in your own browser, in local storage. It never leaves your device, and we never see it.

4. Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like every host, Cloudflare handles technical connection data, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and block abuse. We run no analytics on top of it and build no profiles.

5. What we never do

  • No advertising trackers, and no analytics cookies.
  • No sale, rental or sharing of addresses.
  • No profiling, and no automated decisions about you.
  • No collection from children: this site addresses adult savers.

6. How long we keep things

Your address stays on the list until you leave it or until we close the list. An address that never confirms the sign-up is not added at all.

7. Your rights

European law gives you rights over this data, and we honor them for every reader, wherever you live. You can see it, correct it, have it deleted, limit how we use it, tell us to stop, or take a copy elsewhere. One email to hello@thegoldbarometer.com exercises any of them.

You can also complain to a privacy regulator. In France, where the publisher is based, that is the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

8. Changes

If this page changes, the change appears here with its date, the same rule the rest of the site follows. There are no entries yet.
